Just like every season when it comes around again fashion changes. Something you wore last year might not be in style this year. Or something you wore last year is more in style this year than the last. We all have a piece of clothing that can make or break an outfit for each season. I have not really had the chance to go shopping for new spring clothing this year yet, but I have looked around at a few stores and noticed things more in fashion this year than last. So If you need some cute spring outfit ides I think I have a few for you.
Swing dresses; I am actually a huge fan of these. Swing dresses are super soft and comfortable they can either be dressed up or dressed down. They are definitely good for transitioning back into the warmer weather. I actually own three of these dresses two black and one green that I recently bought. I really love these dresses, I can dress them up for church or I can dress them down for a work day when I just want to be casual and comfy. Also, these dresses are never really expensive so they're a good price if you're on a budget but want a few cute dresses to add to your wardrobe.
Palazzo Pants ok so for the longest time I was against these pants I just never liked the style of them. But recently I have been warming up to them. I am still not sure if they are something I would personally wear but if it was a chillier spring day. You wanted to dress a little warmer with out feeling like you were going to burn up. This is definitely a good clothing item to add to your closet that is super stylish.
Gingham patterned clothing is something I noticed is very much in style this year. I actually love the look of this pattern wether it is a dress, pants, shorts, or a top. I actually have had my eye on a few dresses in this pattern from a couple different stores. Having a clothing item in this pattern is a definet yes. Its some thing good to have from any time of the year even though it's been really big right now during spring. With company making swim suits in this pattern which I myself have been looking at as well.
Maxi Dresses are always good for the Spring and Summer seasons. I usually don't wear them because my torso is to short and I feel like I'm being swallowed by a dress. But I did recently by one from Aerie that I do really like the way it looks on me. I think its just a personal opinion on how they look on your self. But I do like them especially for the days that its really hot or you just don't feel like wear shorts/pants. They are great for when you just wan to throw something on to stay cool in the warm weather but also still look really cute.
Sun hats are cute and stylish for any occasion. I've noticed they have become bigger and more in style this year than the last. I have one but I would like more. Especially with all they colors and styles they come in now. They are great to wear for a day by the pool or at the beach laying in the sun. You could even pair it with a nice little sundress which you be really cute.
There so many more clothing items and accessories that you can add to your Spring and Summer wardrobe. You don't have to buy a whole new wardrobe for the these seasons. But obviously getting a few new pieces to add to your closet is always fun. Also finding new ways to style your new and old pieces together is fun as well. Spring is like fresh start for your wardrobe with all new styles to try.
It's starting to feel like Summer here in Florida which means it's time to head to the beach and the pool. I got a new beach bag last year from Society6 which I am in love with. They sell their bags in small, medium, and large sizes. I bought the large one so I would have more room.
The first item in my bag is sunscreen. You should never lay in the sun with out sunscreen so, that is definitely a necessity and a must in my bag. The highest SPF sunscreen I have is fifty and the lowest is thirty. Most of the time I go to the beach to lay out and get a tan. So the need for a good sunscreen that will protect my skin is high and the brand I use the most is Tropicana.
The second item in my bag is a heat protector for my hair. Since I have been blonde, I have been big on protecting my hair especially in the summer when I'm at the pool or the beach all of the time. Everyone should protect there hair when laying in the sun not just blondes. Blondes do have more of a risk of their hair turning green from the chlorine in the pool or ocean water. Most hair protectors have sunscreen in them with SPF fifteen. If you curl or straighten your hair you should have a heat protector so I just throw mine in my beach bag before I leave my house.
The third item in my nag is my EOS chapstick in sweet mint. A chap stick in your beach bag is good thing to have because just like your skin your lips can get sunburned as well. It's a good idea to keep your lips moisturized and protected if you are laying out getting a tan or playing in the water. Also there's usually a breeze at the beach that can dry out you're lips so to keep them from getting chapped its good to keep a chapstick in your bag.
The fourth item in my bag is a little hair brush. Whether you're at the beach or the pool if you're in the water or laying out your hair is going to get messy. I always carry a little travel sized hair brush with me no matter where I go but I always make sure I have one in my beach bag. Its nice to have one in case you go out out to eat after the beach like me and my friends do. If I don't brush my hair after the beach I know for sure my hair looks like a birds nest. So I like to keep my brush my hair in my bag just so I can fix my hair before I walk in to a restaurant.
The fifth item in my bag is a little bottle a lotion. Have you noticed that after you lay out at the beach the air and water has made your skin feel tight and dry. This always happens to me and I hate that feeling especially if I plan to go eat after. I don't feel comfortable sitting for an hour with my skin feeling like that. So I always throw a little travel sized bottle of lotion in my bag to put on once I'm in the car. A little tip I have for you, if you happen to get sunburned but you really don't want your skin to peel like me, use a lotion that has aloe or coconut oil in it. You're skin is dry and craving moisture so give it what it needs.
The sixth item is of course is a beach towel. You can't really go to the pool or beach with out a towel. I bought a new towel last year but I'm planning on buying a cute round towel this year. My best friend and I love buying new beach stuff every year. I would recommend not going in to Target when they have all there new Summer items because like always you will buy more than you need. But it is fun seeing everything new because trends and styles change every season.
The seventh item are my sunglasses which is something I've become kinda obsessed with. I used to have a Sol Theory subscription which is specifically for sunglasses. So I do have quite a few pairs of glasses, but it is good to no matter where you go to have a pair of sunglasses with you. The thing about glasses is that styles are always changing so you always need more than one pair. Or, thats what I tell my self when ever I see a cute pair when I'm out shopping.
The eighth item is a water bottle you should always stay hydrated and have some water with you no matter what. You can easily just grab a water bottle from your fridge and take it with you. But if your like me then you probably think about what will look cute in Instagram photos. My Aunt recently got me a teal reusable Mira water bottle which can be found on Amazon for about $20. Like a s'well bottle the bottle is insulated and can keep drinks cold for twelve hours and hot drinks hot for eight hours. I was so excited to get this bottle as I was needing a new good one. But again you don't have to have a fancy water bottle any water bottle will do as long as you're staying hydrated.
So that is what is in my beach bag let me know what you like to keep in your beach bag. Or if any of my items helped you figure out what to put in your beach bag.
I personally love when someone's Instagram has a theme to it. Now being on Instagram does not mean you have to have a theme that is totally your choice. You can post whatever you want whenever you want. I myself do have a theme on my instagram. So I am attracted to instagrams that have a theme. To me, it's just pleasing to my eye to see photos that are cohesive by color, style, or filters. Like I said, if you are not the type of person to have a theme just post what ever you like. But for you who do love instagrams that have themes I'm hoping this is a little inspiration for you.
Let's start with inspiration; its something that can be found anywhere in your everyday life or when your out exploring. I like to get my inspiration from Instagram, We Heart It, and Pinterest. If you have an idea of what you want you're instagram to look like it's easier to find some inso pics. I end up spending hours looking for inspiration pictures. Here's a few of them from my theme for my instagram that is more beachy and bright. So those are the types the types of photos I search for as inspiration. These photos I found on Pinterest.
Now its about the style of the photos you're going to post; what style are they going to have? Since I live in Florida I like to post more beach, palm tree, and sunset photos. Also, I post photos of myself and my favorite items like beauty, jewelry, clothing or whatever I feel will make a nice photo. There are many styles of instagram themes some being fashion & beauty, lifestyle, travel, food, or flat lays.
Color schemes are important wether its in your bedroom, clothing, or photos. Currently my instagram color scheme or color pallet is white, coral/orange, and teal/aqua with a little green from the palm tree pictures. If you choose to not use a filter for your theme having a color scheme for your photos will help all of your pictures look cohesive. It will make them all look like they belong together which helps your instagram flow nicely and look put together. If you want to see a color pallet I would suggest going to Pinterest to find some you like and use them for inspiration. If you already have a theme and want to see what your color pallet is there is a website for that called color kuler http://colorkuler.com/
Now that we have covered inspiration, style, and color pallets lets move on to types of instagram themes. There are so many like minimalistic, color block, and black & white. So much more it just depends on what sparks your interest and what you want your instagram to look like all together. It really does help to look at inspiration pictures on Pinterest, We Heart It, Instagram, or Google. Theses are a few of my favorite Instagrammers I get inspiration from.
I hope you found this to somewhat helpful. I really do love instagram and photography in general. It is a really great app to help people showcase there individuality and feel good about it. I am always looking for new people to follow and new themes to see. I do probably spend the most time on this app. So I hope you enjoyed this post and let know if you want to see more like this one.
If you are like me you read 24/7 and it is one of your favorite things to do. For Christmas I actually got a few new books I am obsessed with. I have been studying photography so the two books I got are based on that topic which is why I love them. They just make me happy when I read them. One book is more informational and the other is more for inspiration.
Read This If You Want to Take Great Photographs is the book that is more informational it helps you understand the settings of my camera better. But, it is not a text book, the author Henry Carroll wrote this book to show the fun in photography. He did not want not want it to be a text book in anyway shape or form because really what's fun about that. This book is fun to read because it teaches you how to work a camera, how to choose which setting to put your camera on and what angles to shoot at without making it feel like you are studying for a test. There is a lot of information in this book now this doesn’t mean you should skip a photography course completely. But if you are a beginner, like me and love to read this a great book to introduce you to the world of photography.
Read This If You Want To Be Instagram Famous is a book I personally like to use for inspiration. I often need ideas and inspiration for good photos to take. There are days when I have ten good photos to post on instagram or for my blog. Then within a week I have no more photos and can’t think of any photo ideas. This book has many amazing instagramers who have their own style and way of taking their photos. Each page is a new instagram with a different theme and different style that you can get inspiration from and turn it into your own. Remember to not copy someone elses photo completely just use it as an idea or a guide for you’re photography.
Capture Your Style is a book I have read many times. Aimee Song is a fashion blogger who has a huge love for instagram and photography. Her go to for taking photos is her iPhone and they always turn out beautifully. This book is more to help you find your style and figure out what kind of photos you like to take. This books basically gives you all the tips and tricks to instagram from which hashtags to use and when to post. If you love photography and Instagram as much as Aimee Song does you should definitely read this book.
I have read these books more than once and have really enjoyed them. So if you love photography or Instagram or you are even obsessed with them, then these are books to read and will inspire you too.
Everyone has their spring favorites like clothing, accessories, or a beauty item. Because I live in Florida it feels like spring started a little earlier for me. So, I already have a list of my favorite items for the Spring season.
First, beauty favorite is my EOS organic lip balm in sweet mint. My lips always get so, dry not just in the winter months but year round. I've have tried many chap sticks and lip balms but I have to say this EOS is my favorite. The smell of it is amazing. I used to have a collection of EOS chapsticks, but over time I stopped using them. No reason really, I think I just forgot how many I actually had. This is my favorite product to apply every morning and night and through the day on my no make up days.
Second favorite is my baseball caps, So far, I only have two but I do plan on buying more. There are days where I don't put any heat on my hair so I just wear one of my hats. Or the days when I haven't washed my hair and I need to hide how gross it looks. These hats are definitely my go to accessory at the moment.
Third favorite is my EVO she-a-bang dry spray wax. For Christmas I got the beach weaver s1 curling iron so I do curl my hair all the time with that. I've never liked how my hair feels crunchy with normal hairspray, but I need something to help hold the curl in my hair. I have a BirchBox subscription and one of the samples I got was the she-a-bang dry wax spray. It holds the curls very nicely and makes my hair feel soft and touchable with no crunch. I do only have the sample size right now but will definitely be purchasing the full size.
Fourth favorite, I love tropical scents and luckily Bath and Body brought these scents back this year. But my favorites are the body sprays in Oahu Coconut Sunset, Fiji Pineapple Palm, and Waikiki Beach Coconut. I always rotate between these three through the week. Because I use them all of the time I am almost out of all of them so I will have to replace them soon.
These are only a few from my list of spring favorites and I'm sure I will think of more later. Let me know some of you're Spring favorites or Spring essentials are in the comments. I hope this put you in a spring mood and you enjoyed it.
When I was younger from about five years old to fifteen I wanted to be a fashion designer. I loved the idea of designing clothes for people to wear and the world to see. As I was getting closer to my freshmen year of high school I realized that fashion design did not please me as much as it used to. Honestly, it freaked me out a little bit that something I loved for so long was not what I wanted to do anymore. Going in to high school I no longer had a goal to work towards and I had no idea what I wanted to do with my future. But, it seemed like a lot of my friends kind of new what they wanted to do with their futures so it felt a little strange that I couldn’t find anything to do with mine. Now, even though I no longer dream of being apart of the fashion design world does not mean my love for fashion has died. I still love putting together outfits, picking the right shoes, the perfect accessories like purses, jewelry, and phone cases. Along with fashion comes a love for beauty. I’m not a make up artist but I am a girl and like any girl I love to sit in my bathroom for hours creating new looks. I would like to say I’m decent at doing make up but it wasn’t always like that. When I was younger I took dance classes, ballet and jazz. If you have ever taken dance class before and had either a dance competition or recital you know how much make up has to be on your face. By the time I was thirteen I was doing my make up for my recitals on my own before my mom would do it for me. Because, I knew how I needed to do my make up for each recital it was easy to do each time. But, when it came to everyday looks I needed help so I turned to everybody’s favorite thing, YouTube. From there I learned how to pick the right shade of foundation and which lipstick shade looks good with my skin tone. I learned what colors made my eyes pop and which ones made them look dull and how to contour my face. As I was learning all of this I started with the small stuff like winged eyeliner, slight contouring and so on until I felt comfortable and confident enough with the make up on my face to leave the house. Even now at twenty years old I still sit on my bathroom counter in front of the mirror trying out all kinds of looks some of them turn out decent and are able to leave the house some of the looks are strictly for my self and the bathroom. I don’t know about anyone else but when my outfit is amazing and my make is perfect I want to take as many pictures as possible, which is where my new love comes, photography. Photography became a part of my life last summer. I enjoyed taking pictures here and there before but I didn’t really get into it until last year. I like to use two cameras when taking photos, my iPhone 7 camera and my DSLR camera, Canon Rebel Eos T6i. I like to use my iPhone camera when I’m out most of the time because it is something I always have with me. But, when I’m out on an adventure like taking a walk on the beach or exploring around a nature preserve I like to have my Canon with me for more professional looking photos. Now for the photos of myself, just like any other girl I do take my selfies on my iPhone. But, if I want a full body better quality photo I have my little brother play photographer and take it for me with my DSLR. Just as fashion, beauty, and photography has become apart of my life. I’m hoping that this blog will do that as well. So I hope you enjoy my blog and find just what you’re looking for and come along with me on this blogging journey.
