I actually snack quite often especially with me working as a nanny now. When I am working I try to have healthy snacks with me so I’m not eating junk all day. Yes, I still put chips in my lunch box, but I do like to have some healthy options like grapes or nectarines. I like something easy and healthy that I can pop in my mouth so I don’t feel bad eating so much junk. But, when I am at home I do try to find healthy options for snacks; whether it be a smoothie or some fruit. A lot of the snacks I try to make are from Pinterest. We all know if you try to make something on Pinterest it’s either going to be a hit or miss. Somethings seem impossible to make and some are completely easy, which is why I always look up easy snacks to make. That way there’s less of a chance of failure.
A snack I recently made from Pinterest and really did enjoy is chocolate almond butter frozen banana bites. It's a pretty easy snack to make and is also really delicious. I believe the recipe I found on Pinterest actually uses almond butter but since my family loves peanut butter, I knew it was something that would be in the house and I wouldn't have to go buy anything. So feel free to use peanut butter or almond butter, it's your choice. My brothers tried these little snacks which I didnt think they would but they both agreed that they taste like ice cream. So they are a sweet little treat that is on the healthier side with a little chocolate.
Another healthy snack or more so drink I make myself is a smoothie. Smoothies are great when you need something on the go or you just want something sweet. The best part about smoothies are all the combinations you can make. I actually like to make myself mango, pineapple, and strawberry smoothies. I know a lot of people use coconut water for their smoothies but I am not a huge fan of coconut. I like to use lemonade as my liquid for my smoothies. But, it's completely up to you how you want to make your smoothie and that's the best part.
Veggies and dip this is the easiest and quickest snack. I usually eat carrots with ranch just because it's two things that is always in my house. But you can really choose whatever veggies and dip you want. You could have hummus or peanut butter what ever you like. Personally, I dont like hummus and I've dipped celery in peanut butter once to try it, but I do like my ranch a lot better than anything. So again, its just what you prefer.
Fruit salad is another snack that is really easy to make and can last for days. I'm not going to lie but when ever I think of fruit salad I think of the Wiggles song, Fruit Salad. But I was a preschool teacher and listened to this song many times a day. This is such a healthy refreshing snack especially during the Spring and Summer which is when I like to eat alot of fruit. Currently, I have a huge bowl of watermelon in my fridge that I have been snacking on throughout the day. To make a fruit salad simply pick your favorite fruits, cut them up, and throw them in a bowl. Let it chill in the fridge until your ready to eat it.
So most of these are just healthy snack ideas and not really recipes. But you can easily look up snack ideas or just take what ever you have in your home and make a healthy or non healthy snack, that's up to you.
